I don't know when my fascination for owls began. Prolly, during Harry Potter times with the most adorable owl Hedwig or I've long before seen them (of course silly!) and adore them by then but I just adore them more now and openly! Anyhoo, The Boyfriend decided to take me to a Sundate yesterday as he prolly got tired of my whining on wanting badly to go to the mall! Well, it has been forever since the last time I or we went so it was a really perfect timing to go there yesterday! I didn't get to shop though because I am now hanging on to a cash that's being reserved for my fare tomorrow, but it was all good. We got to hitch a ride with his parents on the way to the city and once we got there we were treated by them to a sumptuous "snack" at Sbarro. They really are super wonderful people, I envy The Boyfriend a lot for having them and sometimes couldn't help wishing if they could adopt me one day. That's just some wishful thinking and besides if they're going to adopt me The Boyfriend will be my step brother! NO WAY! Hahaha! Also his parents do love me as though I were their own and I especially love his mom! ♥
On the other hand, I found out in the course of our malling that The Boyfriend had a couple of surprises for me!
One. He bought me a new regular bag. This is really going to be useful as I also have other plans (will have to tell you one day ;)) for its official use ;) And I love it so much because, aside from the fact that it was given by The Boyfriend, it's also very light to carry and big enough to house my hygiene, kikay, and gadget kits! Yes, I do carry a lot of smaller bags inside my bag! I just love to organize things and make it easier for me to look for the things that I need.

Two. The Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'hoole. My smile literally went from ear to ear when he announced that we'd be watching the movie! Both of us were captivated with the trailer's OST from 30 Seconds to Mars, Kings and Queens, and how it gave an extremely dramatic effect to the trailer. We really love the song even before the movie ever came out with its irresistible trailer!
While waiting for show time, we decided to take a picture of ourselves with our desired owl. The Boyfriend is Metalbeak - one of the antagonists in the movie who is part of the Pure Ones. But in the book though it shows that Metalbeak and Kludd are one and the same owl. Hmmm...
I am cute little elf owl Gylfie. The Boyfriend wanted me to look like her or follow her expression at least but my small eyes failed me. So there I am with no match to Gylfie's cuteness!
Some screencaps from the movie. I found out that the movie is actually based on an epic fantasy book with a total of fifteen books in the series by Kathryn Lasky. Fifteen books and just one movie? Hmmm... I wonder if there could be a part 2, but it looks like there won't be though. We'll have to find out someday ;) Going back to the movie, it follows on the adventure of the young, brave, and ambitious (in a good way) Soren (a barn owl -- and if you get to watch the movie, you'll find out that all kinds of owls were there! And all of them emitting a cuteness in different ways!). The movie is like fables that we used to read from story books in grade school that takes us to an adventure with the main protagonist and then teaches us a lesson afterwards. Let me give you in bullets the lessons that I've learned from watching the movie:
Kludd: The Guardians win, lalalalala, they go home.
The end. Think about something *real*.
Soren: They're real.
- Faith. There was actually another part of the movie where this is quoted most perfectly. I couldn't remember very well but I think it was Soren or their dad who told Kludd (his brother who took sibling rivalry to the extreme, as in to the point of endangering their lives!) that just because you can't see a thing/person doesn't mean that they're not real. You just have to believe, have faith and feel their presence in your heart.
Kludd: You have a soft head, Soren. Filled with stories, and dreams.
Soren: There's nothing wrong with dreams.
- Dreaming could get us as far as we'd like to. People without dreams are people who remain stagnant and dissatisfied with life. They are the same people who will never find out what's behind the darkness that is blinding them. The same people who are unhappy with the situation they are in but never doing anything to correct it because they've convinced themselves that there's nothing really out there, no more than a horizon that comes and goes as the sun sets and rises.
Noctus: Legend tells of a band of noble warriors...
known as the Guardians of Ga'hoole.
Whenever trouble is at hand, seek them out.
For they are sworn to protect the innocent, and vanquish evil...
Should I stop?
- Good always conquers bad. Need I say more on that?
Since I was a kid, I think this is prolly the second animated movie that I've ever watched in the big screen. I really am not a very good lover of the movies and I often fall asleep while watching, however, this movie didn't fail me at all! I really, really love the owls being so cuddly and full of wisdom they could pass as humans minus their feathery nature! The animation was superb and the storyline awesome and at the same time very intense! I'd give the movie an 8 out of 10. This is really going to be perfect to watch with the whole family, but make sure though to give a sound PG since some of the scenes are really bloody violent and not to mention, dark and may not be very suitable for overly young audiences. And yes, do watch it in 3D and feel the owls' wings as they swoop down from behind you ;)
The only thing I hate about the movie is the Owl City soundtrack. Just because it's an Owl movie it doesn't mean you have to put in an Owl City song in there! Was it really necessary?! I didn't even hear 30 Seconds to Mars in any part of the movie at all and that made it all the more disheartening! Oh pft. You really can't get everything though. Let me leave you with one funny dialog between Digger and Gylfie :D
Digger: Knock knock.
Gylfie: Who's there?
Digger: Owls.
Gylfie: Owls who?
Digger: Heh! That's right. Owls *hoo.*
